In the summer of 2024, on a whim, we took a flight to New York City for the Fourth of July weekend. Saturday, while sitting at lunch and wondering what adventure the day might hold, we decided to take a trip to Tiffany & Co. to finalize the engagement rings we had once picked out a few months prior.

As we sipped champagne and admired the rings, we went ahead and made the purchase. Back at our hotel, we carefully placed the rings in the safe, but we couldn’t resist heading downstairs for a celebratory martini.

Once back in the room, curiosity (and excitement!) got the better of us.. (Lawson). We tried the rings on again—and that’s when the conversation happened: “What if we got engaged right now?” After smiles, tears and embrace, we slid the rings on each other’s fingers and knew we were ready for the next big step in our lives together.

It was spontaneous, intimate, and perfect—The beginning of the rest of our adventure.
